PORTFOLIO: TALKING HEADS, A CONVERSATION

This on-going series started as an experiment with color palettes. I had fallen into patterns of color use and the study of European painters’ palettes was an experiment in habit-liberation. Gradually, I made portraits of family, students, friends and studio visitors. My use of unstretched portrait linen allowed for spontaneity, as did the self-imposed three-hour time limit, from start to finish. As per my set of restrictions, I was not allowed to judge the final work. When hanging together, these portraits seem to be having a conversation, which can be altered by switching them around.
